GSHI 59-meter multi-purpose utility vessel made a successful trial voyage

        On February 18, 2011 at 8:30 a.m., GSHI’s first self-propelled vessel, a 59-meter multi-purpose utility vessel, departed from the dock for a trial voyage in the sea area around Guishan Island.
        With the close cooperation of technicians, the 59-meter multi-purpose utility vessel passed over 10 navigation tests, including tank depth sounding, draft recording, speed test, endurance trial, generator parameter recording, maneuvering test, inertia test, emergency astern test, steering test, anchoring test, bow thruster test, course-keeping test and noise test, and met the requirements of the ship owner and the classification society. It homed successfully at 23:00 that day. The ship owner’s representatives Lin Weixing and Chen Zhongwu, surveyor Liang Jingcheng of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and relevant members of the Engineering Dept. and the project team witnessed this historic moment together.
        This vessel has an overall length of 59 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 53.2 meters, a molded breadth of 16 meters, a design draft of 3.2 meters, a molded depth of 4.5 meters, a deadweight of 1,100 tons and a trial speed of 12 knots. The successful trial voyage of this vessel became the first production milestone accomplished by GSHI this year to date, and has provided valuable experience for the trial voyage of subsequent vessels.
